The Hon. Rev. Ronald G. Thwaites, BA, M.A. J.P. M.P (known as R.G.) has been selected to deliver the sixth annual lecture, presented each year by the Caribbean International Network, (CIN).
Over the years the, CIN Caribbean Lecture Series has presented individuals of unique accomplishment and uncommon commitment to the political, economic and social advancement of the Caribbean region. Distinguished past presenters are two former Prime Ministers, P.J. Patterson and Edward Seaga, UCLA Professor Robert Hill, the late UWI distinguished Professor, Rex Nettleford and Lowell Horthorne, CEO of Golden Krust restaurants.
The Lecture will be held at the Schomburg Centre for Research in Black Culture, America ’s leading repositories of books and artifacts on the global African experience, located in Harlem , New York on Friday November 5, 2010.
Mr. Thwaites is accomplished in several important fields of endeavor. He is a noted scholar, clergyman, Member of Parliament, gifted orator and passionate social activist. His academic accomplishments began at St. George’s College . He later earned a BA in history from Cornell University and a jurisprudence degree from Oxford University where he was also a Rhodes Scholar. He pursued further graduate studies at the University of the West Indies . R.G. is presently the host of the number one radio talk show, Independent Talk, the top rated program in morning drive time. His show appeals to all categories of Jamaicans.
