Stephen Hill won the overall men's title at the 12th annual FX Trader/Kiwanis Club of New Kingston Charity Golf Tournament, which was held at the Caymanas Golf and Country Club last Sunday October 31, 2010.
Hill tallied 43 points to win ahead of a number of other prominent national golfers, including Fabian Campbell and Glen Lawrence.
Hill was part of the Lindy Delapenha Invitational team, which shared the overall team-play title with Jamaica Money Market Brokers (JMMB).
Delapenha's team was rounded off by Peter Lindo and Dennis Charley, while the JMMB outfit included Douglas Stiebel, Bert Tomlinson, Campbell and Howard Lau.
In other results, Lawrence, who tallied 41 points, walked away with the men's title ahead of Campbell, who garnered 39 points, while in the men's senior and super senior division, Robert Chin was crowned champion ahead of Steven Chang.
The women's crown went to Karen Williams, who tallied 35 points to Ky Cho's 28, and Pearl Phipps' 27.
"We are very pleased with the outcome. We had a number of golfers, especially from out of town. We also had an increase in the number of participants from last year, with the team category being a big attraction," said Kiwanis Club of New Kingston president, Andrea Moore.
"We are looking forward to making the team competition a main feature of next year's event, which we expect to be bigger and better."
Part proceeds of the tournament will go towards the upgrading of a basic school to the standard required by the early childhood commission.
The tournament was part-sponsored by Globe Insurance Company, Caledonia Outdoor Advertising, Allied Insurance Brokers, Guardsman Armoured Limited, Guardian Life Limited, The Gleaner, RJR Communications Group, ATL Autohaus, Audi, Supreme Ventures Limited, First Caribbean Bank and JAMPET.
