CROSSWALKS
TELEVISION
- The
Crosswalks Television Network was launched in
February 1992. It is owned and operated by the
City of New York as a service of the NYC Department
of Information Technology and Telecommunications.
- The
network consists of five channels, which are designated
for governmental and educational use.
- The
channel numbers are 71, 72, 73, 74 & 75. CIN
airs on channel 73.
- All
five channels are available to cable subscribers
in the five boroughs as part of basic cable service.
- Crosswalks
Network reaches 5 million viewers in 1.8 million
households.
CHANNEL
73
- Channel
73’s Electronic Bulletin Board provides
continuous announcements of Government services,
hot line numbers and educational and cultural
activities being held
throughout NYC. Crosswalk offers this complimentary
service to government agencies and non-profit
organizations.
- As
a service to New York’s ethnically diverse
population the channel also runs leased-time programs
from a variety of independent international program
producers; much of this programming is presented
in non-English languages.
- Channel
73 also carries OTB Track TV racing.
